Rotherwood - Sauvignon Blanc 2014
The sauvignon blanc vines were planted in 2007. The planting consisted of the F4V6 clone grafted onto 101-14 rootstock.
After crushing and pressing, the juice was clarified by cold settling and the clear juice then fermented cold, at around 13°C, to retain the fragrant aromas. The wine was bottled early, in July, to retain freshness.
Pale yellow in colour, with tints of green. The nose is fresh and vibrant, combining grassy and tropical aromas. Delicate to the palate and light bodied. With grassy flavours and a hint of passionfruit, this wine finishes crisply with fresh acidity.
Sauvignon blanc is best enjoyed while it retains its youthful fruit. Try our sauvignon blanc with salads, asparagus, delicate fish like whiting or simply by itself.
Regarded as one of the world’s great white wine varieties and is capable of many different expressions depending on the region and climate in which it is grown. The growing season was cool throughout and produced record high rainfalls; the Sauvignon Blanc fruit appreciated the highly vigorous vine canopies. The result was slow ripening grapes and plenty of varietal flavours and low acid.
