Greenville is an historic property situated in the Southern Highlands of NSW at an altitude of 600m. The vineyard was established in 2003 with the aim of producing boutique cool climate wines. The vines are kept low yielding, with minimal use of fungicides and pesticides. The grapes are picked by hand.
We are now releasing our 2014 vintage.
Pinot Gris: Bronze Medal NSW Wine Show. This is made more in the Italian style of Pinot Grigio, picked relatively early at lower sugar levels when the grape is just starting to develop subtle flavours such as hay and honeysuckle with a touch of acidity. Ian Cook of Five Way Cellars, Paddington, says “Classic pear drop nose. Dry savoury and chalky, and lots of acid.” Our pinot gris is a neutral, dry savoury white wine with a touch of salty freshness which makes it an ideal companion to food.
This is totally different from the old fatty ripe pinot gris style.
Riesling. This is an off-dry Riesling, with a bouquet of ripe fruit with hints of crisp pear, making it a good partner for Asian or other spicy food, and seafood. The wine finishes clean and dry with refreshing acidity that balances the flavour intensity. Ian Cook: “Super-pale/clear. Super light mouth-watering light fresh lemon notes.” This wine will respond well to cellaring developing more richness and complexity.
